Team: librarian: Willy Le Loup / assistants: Martine Lerou & Erika D’Hoore

Collection
The books and journal collection of the Bruges museum library reflects the museum collections and their historical periods. The library also has a range of information about museum collections and exhibitions all over the world. The emphasis here is on art and life in the (late) Middle Ages in Bruges and the Southern Netherlands, although you will also find works about museum studies in general.

The library’s primary role is to support the museum collections.

Borrowing
Reference library
The museum library is accessible to the public on appointment on workdays between 9 am and 12 and between 2 pm and 4 pm, unless other arrangements have been expressly made with the staff.

You cannot browse the books yourself, except in the reading room. To help you find the source you are looking for, there is a card catalogue that is searchable by author or first word of the title, subject area, or key word. An instruction manual is available, but the staff are also happy to help. You are only allowed to consult the books on location – you may copy from, but not borrow, the books.

Referrals
If they do not have the correct information or sources, the library staff can refer you to other, similar establishments in Flanders or Brussels.
